Hold On To Your Dreams

How many times have you abandoned an idea, project or dream because someone made a disparaging remark or rolled their eyes when you told them about it?

Relinquishing your dreams

All too frequently we allow others to dictate what is good, right or possible. We allow them to steal our dreams. Notice I use the word "allow." No one can put you down, stomp on your dream, or kill an idea of yours unless you allow them to.

Consider this:

The movie Star Wars was rejected by every movie studio in Hollywood before 20th Century Fox finally produced it. It went on to be one of the largest-grossing movies in film history.

As a child, Sylvester Stallone was frequently beaten by his father and told he had no brains. He grew up an unhappy loner. He floated in and out of schools. An adviser at Drexel University told him that based on his aptitude tests he should pursue a career as an elevator repair person. It's not a bad profession but it's certainly not where "Rocky" ended up!

Einstein was criticized for not wearing socks or cutting his hair. He didn't speak until he was four, and didn't read until he was seven. One observer noted, "He could be mentally retarded."

An expert said of Vince Lombardi:"He possesses minimal football knowledge and Lacks motivation.

Beethoven handled the violin awkwardly and preferred playing his own compositions instead of improving his technique. His teacher proclaimed him hopeless as a composer.

Walt Disney was fired from his job as a newspaper editor for lack of ideas. He also went bankrupt several times before he created Disneyland.

Henry Ford failed and went broke 5 times before he finally
succeeded.

Louisa May Alcott, the author of Little Women, was encouraged to find work as a servant or seamstress. She would certainly never be a writer.

In 1944, the director of the Blue Book Modeling Agency told modeling hopeful Norma Jean Baker (Marilyn Monroe), "You'd better learn secretarial work, or else get married."

It Takes Courage

So what are your ideas? Your thoughts? Your dreams? Your
plans?

It doesn't matter if anyone supports what you want to do. The important thing is for YOU to believe. For YOU to ignore the people who say you can't do it - and DO IT ANYWAY! It takes courage. It takes persistence. It takes believing in the "voice inside" when no one else does. Ideas, dreams and visions are planted within you because you have the ability to make them happen. You’ll learn, grow, scramble, fail, and get back up again! The important thing is to simply never give up. The people I mentioned earlier never gave up - and they made great things happen!

Put Wings on Your Dreams

We Need Dreams

Dreams are important. Not the dreams you have when sleeping. I'm
talking about the dreams you have for your future -- the dreams that keep you going
-- the dreams that make each day worth living.

Dreams Aren't Enough

As important as dreams are, they arent enough. Why? Dreams don't take
you where you want to go. A dream needs wings -- to become a tangible
vision -- a passion that will take you where you REALLY want to be.

Bethany Hamilton lives in Hawaii -- her passion is surfing -- her dream
is to become a professional surfer. She spends every available minute
in the water, even home-schooling so she can have more time to pursue
her vision. At 8 years of age she entered her first major competition
taking the division championships that year. Bethany's dream had become
her passion -- a tangible vision.

When Your Vision Is Attacked

Bethany's vision was viciously attacked on Halloween morning, 2003,
when she was 13 years old. Bethany was lying on her board -- left arm
dangling in the cool water.

She remembers a flash of gray, pressure, and a couple fast tugs.  She
also remembers watching the jaws of a 15-foot tiger shark cover the top
of her board and her left arm.

The shark was gone as fast as it appeared.  So was her arm.

What It Takes To Keep Your Vision Alive

Fast thinking friends and surgery saved Bethany's life. Everyone --
including Bethany -- believed her surfing days were over. But within a
week her vision returned -- she rejected the fear and thoughts of defeat.

Less than 30 days after the attack Bethany was back in the water. Her
family and friends were there to cheer her on.

Her first attempts were failures. She struggled to push herself up with
one arm and keep her balance.  Her fear was that her dream would die in
the water that day -- the shark victorious after all. Bethany pushed
down her fears, gritted her teeth, and kept trying. And then it happened.

Tears rolled down her face -- the crowd cheered -- she caught her first
wave and rode it in.

The Dream Takes Wings

Only months after the vicious attack, Bethany amazed thousands by
achieving the unimaginable -- taking 5th at the 2004 National Scholastic
Surfing Association Nationals Championships. In September she struck
again, winning the Open Women's Division of the NSSA's Hawaiian conference
season opener. Having placed in the finals of the National Surfing
Championships Bethany has secured a spot on USA's National Surfing Team. She
has truly conquered her fears!

Five Ways To Put Wings On Your Dreams Bethany's story shows how to put
wings on your dreams:

1) Your dream must become your passion -- a tangible vision.

2) Everything you do needs to fuel your vision.

3) When your dream is attacked, face the adversity squarely and choose
to overcome it with whatever it takes -- face your fears and do it
anyway!

4) Make necessary adjustments -- regain your balance -- and keep your
eyes on your goal.

5) Accept help when it comes -- with grace and gratitude -- let it fuel
your vision.

From Dream to Vision to Reality

Bethany's vision overcomes her fear of sharks and her continued
nightmares. Her story teaches how to create dreams with wings that push you
toward your life-goals. Follow her example and your dreams will become
reality, too.

Fire Up Your Motivation

Motivation seems to come and go, here today and gone tomorrow depending on what is going on in our life each day. The need to stay motivated is paramount to success, so let's get your motivation Fired UP!

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about motivation in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.

It's so difficult to go on when everything seems to fail, isn't it? Are there times in your life when you really want to call it "quits" because you just can't see any good results from all the hard work you've done?

Hold your horses!

Never ever think of giving up. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Take all negative words out of your mental dictionary and focus on the solutions with utmost conviction and patience. The battle is never lost until you've abandon your vision.

But what if you're really exhausted physically, mentally, and most of all emotionally? Here are some sources of motivation to prompt you in reaching the peak of accomplishment.

1) The Overwhelming Feeling of Attaining your Desired End

How would you feel after accomplishing your mission? Of course you will feel ecstatic. You might be shedding tears of joy. Let this tremendous feeling sink in and encourage you to persist despite all odds.

2) The Reward System

How would you feel if you've entered a contest, but there are no prizes for the winners? It's not very encouraging, isn't it?

The same principles apply to your vision. Reward yourself after accomplishing a goal. Set a particular incentive for every objective.

Let's say if you've achieved a particular task, you'll treat yourself to your favorite restaurant. When you've finished a bigger task, you'll go on a vacation.

Got the idea?

Just set something gratifying to indulge in after completing a certain undertaking.

The best time to learn about motivation is before you're in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable motivation experience while it's still free.

3) The Powerful Force of Humanity

If you want to succeed, surround yourself with the right kind of people who will support and encourage you all the way.

Be with people who have the same beliefs and aspirations as yours. Positive aura is generated by this fusion of collective energy from people of "like minds."

On the contrary, being with people who oppose your ways of thinking may trigger a negative, yet very powerful, kind of motivation.

Has anyone ever said to you that "You'll never get anywhere" or "You're wasting your time with what you're doing?"

Didn't it make you furious and determined enough to prove to them how wrong they were? This is what I'm talking about.

When aggravated, you will do anything to make those who are against you swallow their words. But of course, your main focus should be on the accomplishment of your goal and not for the purpose of revenge. Never let your emotions toward others alter your main objective.

4) Take Care Of Your Health

Exercise regularly. Fill your brains with enough oxygen to allow you to do your daily tasks with more vigor and energy.

Take regular breaks if time allows. Having the will power to continue despite all hardships is extremely important, but you should still know your limits.

If you don't take enough rest, you will not be able to think clearly and you will not be able to do your tasks properly. In the process, you will just get more frustrated.

Take sufficient sleep and recharge yourself after a hard day's work. Never, ever ignore your health. I've learned my lesson when I sacrificed my health for the sake of success. I've worked very long hours everyday and just got minimal sleep. As a result, I became ill.

It's not worth it. Success won't matter if you don't have good health to enjoy it.

Fire up your motivation and live life to the fullest!

That's how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Be Blessed Family!

Finding Your Voice

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action." – Martha Graham

Have you ever tried to sing when you were sick. Most of you have, and you know that when you open your mouth to sing, your voice can get caught in your throat. The phlegm and irritation of a passing bronchial infection is evident. Your voice was is strained from several days of coughing. And the process of singing isn't much fun. The sound coming from your body didn't sound like you. You cleared your  throat a couple of times, but it was still rough.

Instead of pushing, you lessened the pressure on your throat and kept singing lightly, watching and waiting for your sound to show up. You breathed deeply, imagining the sound coming up from your center. Gradually, the sound smoothed out until you were singing with the connected sound you knew.

Standing there, experimenting with finding your voice, one time or another you have probably started thinking about the parallels between finding your singing or speaking voice and finding your symbolic or metaphorical voice.  Even if you don't sing, you more than likely was trying to find your voice in life, generally speaking.

The physical voice flows from a connection between breath and vocal chords. The metaphorical voice is a unique relationship between a person's values and vision and how they are expressed in action. When you "find your voice," You find a sense of purpose. You know what you are expressing and do it with much more ease.

When you lose your voice, you can find it again in ways similar to the process you use to regain your singing voice: Don't push it but understand that  obstacles are a signal to lessen the pressure, dig deeper, and reconnect with what is important.

Breathe deeply and speak from your  center. When you speak from your center, both your literal and figurative voices are strong, clear, and more easily heard.

Focus and  practice. When you find your voice, you will have found your heart. If your heart is their, then your treasure will be present.  Then your purpose wil become clear just like your voice.

Find the vitality, the life force, and the energy that is your voice. With practice, it will become powerful and effortless.

Aim High

Too often we become enmeshed in competition or our ego screams for attention when really all our spirit wants is for us to unleash our brilliant gifts into the world. You can't take it with you so aim high and bring that brilliance forth. What is not given is lost forever!

Change is difficult for many people. Often times our whole identity is wrapped up in what we've learned as children will work for us when dealing with people, allowing us to survive, thrive and fit in. While some people have had to learn to thrive in the midst of change and learned to be adaptable by being open to new ideas and embracing change, many others have had to fight for survival and every table-scrap that came their way. Behavior is learned and it takes work to unlearn and dismantle these old beliefs.

The truth of the matter is that win-win is always possible. When you are able to see beyond the ego and recognize the abundance that is available, people, minds, and ideas come together and can create amazing changes that improve the current scenarios for many, many people. When you work with people who have this abundant and generous attitude, you are uplifted, the team soars, and amazing energy and creativity is unleashed. This is much harder to do, to sustain, and to elevate within others when you encounter individuals driven by the thought of scarcity and competition.

People like Steve Jobs are visionaries that have sought to bring about such shifts in society and in business. One thing I've learned along the way is that it is often better to take the high road. This isn't about judging others as wrong or seeing yourself as better than others. This is about recognizing your truth as to how you wish to BE in the world. Don't compromise your integrity. Don't get caught up in the competition. See the vision, see the outcome, feel the purpose and passion you're driven to offer the world, and give it freely. We all die. You can’t take anything from this life with you. So give what you have to offer the world. What is not given is lost forever.

If your goal is to truly bring about a positive change and serve others, how it is accomplished becomes less important and seeing it accomplished becomes more important. While it may be a blow to your ego when others criticize your inspiration, or someone takes the credit for something you've introduced, holding fast to the benefits for everyone will often soften the sting. You do need to pick and choose those places where you'll offer yourself, the key is to evaluate whether it is serving a common good. When you’re getting compensated for your contributions, gratitude would serve you spirit of peace. If you continually feel abused and stomped on, maybe it is time to move on to a more collaborative team, as well as a more receptive and appreciative audience.

Knowing that you are accomplishing your purpose and living your passion will be reward. In time, it will be recognized. Imposters will eventually be seen and heart & soul will always outlast the mind & ego. Along the way, through the journey that is your life and career, you will need to hold fast to the true inner qualities and nature of the brilliance that is you. Don’t allow these negative experiences to become something that undermines your value. You are not the negative experience. Often times, the negativity we experience from others, is more a reflection of them and less about who you are.

We all have different lenses, different gifts, different wiring, and different experiences. Difference is not something to be judged, it is a gift of diversity that brings the pieces of the puzzle of life together and creates a society, a solution, a technology, etc., together for the benefit of us all. Don’t doubt yourself when others cannot see the vision you see. Keep true, keep your intentions, and you will attract the right support, the right people, and the right opportunities. Lower the ego and aim high the vision.
